HOW IT ALL BEGAN
THE SCENE: * DONNA*Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY April 2018
Caché was waiting for her date, can you believe it he was 45 minutes late! Little did she know right beside her sat prince charming. Bearded and brown eyed he was not alarming. He told her a tale of his wonderful life, a lawyer, a restauranteur, he said everything just right! She thought: Oh! what a delight!
He invited her to have dinner at his new restaurant, and how could she resist.
However, when she showed up with her friends, everything was a miss! Oh wait that's not true, the food was delish but he didn't send drinks and she was sad about this! She had an idea! A lightbulb you say! Let's go have drinks at Donna hooray! He quickly agreed but to her dismay he didn't say a word not even a Hey! He abruptly left and she felt confused; "he does't like me at all" and her friends were bemused. Little did she know he returned to the bar only to see his Cinderella drive off in a car.
Two years went by and poor Jonny sat by the window with a heart full of sadness. If only she knew of all of this madness! He was flustered and blustered and just didn’t know what to say. He wished he could go back and ask for her number; oh dear how did he get himself in to this blunder.
Then one day the universe’s plan started to hatch! Put quite simply, Hinge recommend the two as a match. Cloaked in a rainbow wig and red nose, he didn’t recognize his beautiful rose. Of course, she knew the fool as soon as she chose - You’re the Barano guy she texted and he leaped up in excitement! Could it be? Was it her? He asked in delightment.
“Drinks at Donna?” he suggested. She said, yes of course, and they quickly connected; over tequila and tears the two had blast. Who knew their love would grow so fast.
There we have it, a story of true love long last.
Come join our wedding and let’s all have a blast!

ISLAND DETAILS
From New York City
The easiest way to get to Shelter Island is to fly into JFK (or LaGuardia – LGA) and rent a car. Driving from these airports to Shelter Island takes about 2.5 hours without traffic (approx. 100 miles), but traffic can be terrible! If you arrive on Friday September 16th, we highly recommend leaving New York City before noon to avoid the worst traffic. If you arrive earlier in the week, we recommend leaving before mid-afternoon.
Shelter Island is located in between the North and South Forks of Long Island. We expect most people will want to drive through the Hamptons on the South Fork, though the North Fork takes roughly the same amount of time.
Ferries to Shelter Island
The car ferry (your car drives on to a boat and it takes you to the island!) from the South Fork leaves from North Haven (just past Sag Harbor – a very charming village). The ferry from the North Fork leaves from Greenport. You can enter the island from either ferry however the late night boat off Shelter Island will only be at the North Fork/Greenport. We will keep this website updated if any changes occur with ferry timing/schedules.
The ferry runs every 10-15 minutes, and the trip takes about 10 minutes. The last North Fork/Greenport ferry will depart at 1:15am. Tickets are purchased on board (you cannot book the ferry in advance). Please note, the ferry companies only accept cash (there are ATMs in both Sag Harbor and Greenport).
Other Travel Options to Shelter Island
If you prefer not to rent a car, here are a few other options:
Private car/Uber: Ubers should be around $300-400 for the trip, though this is a bit hard to predict. You should get dropped off at one of the ferries (Greenport/North Haven). There is no Uber service on Shelter Island, but if you let us know your approximate arrival time, we can plan to have someone to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.
Train: If you’re coming from NYC (Penn Station) or JFK, you can take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) – Ronkonkoma Branch. From JFK, you’ll take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, and get on a Ronkonkoma Branch train to Greenport. From there, you can take the North Ferry to the Shelter Island. If you let us know your approximate arrival time, we can plan to have someone to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.
Bus: Taking the Hampton Jitney is a popular way to get out to the Hamptons from NYC. If you’d like to take the Jitney from JFK (or LaGuardia), you’ll need to take a quick Uber to the stop. For more information, see the Jitney’s website.
Getting Around Shelter Island
Once on Shelter Island, we will have small shuttles running on Saturday to take you between your hotel/airbnb (or the ferry stop) and Shelter island private beach club (location of Happyhappyjoyjoy Hour). We will also plan to have larger shuttles on Sunday to and from Sunset Beach Hotel (let us know where you are staying so we can arrange the shuttles accordingly!
ACCOMMODATIONS
We think AirBNB and VRBO are the best options! You'll want to stay on the island to get the full experience and to avoid the ferry!
We recommend the following hotels for your stay:
